Château la Motte Guest House is located in Southwestern Ontario, Canada. It is 30-40 minutes from London, Stratford, Kitchener-Waterloo, Cambridge, and Brantford. It is also located in the midst of one of the most robust economies in North America. Located halfway between Detroit and Toronto and midway between Port Huron and Buffalo, Woodstock is in the heart of a rich farming and manufacturing belt between the shores of Lake Huron and Lake Erie.
Woodstock's culture and heritage can be seen in our museum, county courthouse, downtown buildings, beautiful Victorian heritage homes, a wide range of stores and boutiques, retail businesses, a bustling farmers' market, spacious parks, theatre, art gallery, museum, annual events such as Canada's Largest Outdoor Farm Show (Sep. 10 – 12, 2019), The Woodworking Show (Sep. 27 – 29, 2019), Cowapolooza (Aug. 16 – 17, 2019), and more.
You will find Château la Motte in the most architecturally outstanding area of the town. Return to the time of Woodstock's great wealth when you stay at this Historic Mansion listed on the National and Provincial Registers of Historic Homes, and appreciate the preservation of the past of this small town. Along with this, the 10,000 sq. ft. estate is still well remembered due to the fact that it was constructed by Thomas 'Carbide' Willson, a prominent engineer, chemist, and entrepreneur.
The home is described as Queen Anne Revival style with a circular tower, rare red slate roof, balconies, and soaring chimneys. A grand curving verandah wraps around the front of the home. The interior of the estate is breathtaking and each room has its unique character. It is easy to be absorbed and charmed by the impressive ambiance of the palatial estate, which has become an international landmark. Oxford County is blessed with an abundance of attractions that will enliven your visit no matter the time of year.
Woodstock offers visitors scenic tree-lined streets, abundant parkland and century-old homes. Whether you know us as the Dairy Capital of Canada, the Friendly City or just Woodstock, we have much to offer you, your family and your friends all year long.
Woodstock also offers interesting Historic Walking Tours. These tours are a wonderful way to explore some of Woodstock’s older neighbourhoods and its downtown. The bonus?
